The Beauty and the Beast

We have officially arrived at the middle of the 2016 Broadway season at Starlight; and the best way to celebrate this is with The Beauty and the Beast from Disney which will be shown from July 13 to 19, including a matinee on Saturday July 16. The staging includes six songs, one which was edited from the movie and six original ones written only for the musical. In this occasion we interview Danny Burgos, who is part of the cast and this was what he said to us.

 

2mas2KC: Where are you from?

Danny Burgos: I was born in Miami, Florida. My mom is from Cuba and my dad is from Puerto Rico.

 

2mas2KC: Do you have siblings?

Danny Burgos: Yes, I have a sister who is 27 and a brother who is 23. I am the middle child.

 

2mas2KC: At what age did you decide that you wanted to do this as a career?

Danny Burgos: I didn’t know until I was about 18, I was in my last year of high school and wanted to do something but and didn’t know what to do with my life. I thought that I was going to be a nurse and I spent two years in the college of nursing at Florida State University and I didn’t like it so much. It was a lot of work for something that for which I didn’t have much heart. Then I changed to theater. I had a lot of heart for that, I was always singing and dancing.

 

2mas2KC: How did you begin? Did you watch a play?

Danny Burgos: My mom took me to see the Phantom of the Opera and when I saw that, I knew that I wanted to do all that, but I never had a reason to do it. Ever since I was 5 years old, I was singing in the church.

 

2mas2KC: Is there someone in your family that does this or are you the first?

Danny Burgos: I am the first, but my aunt was always singing in church. She was an inspiration for me. Professionally I am the only one.
