Do you eat because of hunger or craving?

We have rain in Kansas City; obviously the mornings are cloudy and with a feeling of lower temperatures, which makes our mind think that we should get a jacket and eat foods that bring us heat. This means that we’ll be in the mood for a coffee or hot chocolate, although in the best of cases it should be a tea, but unfortunately that is the last option that we think about.

The bad thing is not the drink but rather the side item along with it because we always combine coffee with sweet bread and even more if it’s Mexican bread which is delicious and sugared. Some people have the habit of cutting it in half, but the bad thing is that they first eat one part and at the end they eat the other part because they don’t want to waste it.

Remember that we have to recognize our own emotions before eating in order not to get fooled by the brain that sends signals of “I’m hungry” when in reality they are simply cravings. If you make breakfast at the right hour and eat what you had planned, then you won’t fall into temptation, but if you are one of those people that doesn’t have their menu planned and you open your fridge to decide what you will eat right then and there, then you are very likely to fall into the temptation of a craving.

Help yourself, close the possibilities of temptation, because remember that we’re starting a difficult time of year to eat healthily. Here come the end of year parties and we will start with Halloween and Day of the Dead.
