A new opportunity

Whether it be to start a new diet or exercise plan, to stop or limit a vice, to start some project or to make effort to become a better person; the beginning of the new year is the time that the majority of people use as a starting point to start the change.

And it’s a good time to do it, since normally we relax a bit at the end of the year, we take things more lightly and we enjoy the parties with friends, giving presents and usually eating and drinking too much. In some form, the body (and the wallet) asks us to calm down, detox and start the new year leaving behind all the excesses we’ve committed.

Mentally, it’s also good to forget the past, refresh our thoughts and be optimistic that the year that begins will be better than the one that ended.

Starting with new goals and resolutions, even if they last little, is always better than letting the years pass without at least having the intention to change things for the better when it comes to the body, mind or wallet.

It seems a bit obvious, but in order to make a change “we have to start by changing”: our bad habits, our bad thoughts and mainly our bad attitude.

It doesn’t matter if we begin exactly on January 1st or Monday the 7th or Thursday the 10th, we have to start and restart and start again as many times as necessary in order to achieve our goals. We have to think that if we have a list of 10 goals and at the end we only achieve one and a half, that’s good, the next year will be a chance to fulfill another and in a few years we will have accomplished more than what we thought possible.

The important thing is to be decisive, start, and not lose motivation; it doesn’t matter if you failed or didn’t start on the first day, the first week, or the first fortnight… carry on!
