Although we know that winter is the most difficult season of the year to control the consumption of delicious foods —because we start having work reunions and family celebrations, beginning with the Thanksgiving dinner, and some of us end it until February— don’t be discouraged; everything can be control if we aim to enjoy everything, but without excess.
We recommend that you don’t stay with the craving for the delicious dishes of the season, and instead we invite you to eat them with conscience. Some easy suggestions are:
• Use a small plate.
• Do not accompany your dishes with bread or tortillas.
• Do not serve twice.
• Drink beverages that do not contain sugar.
It’s not about depriving yourself, it’s about learning to eat at the right time the right foods and not just eat at will. Remember that being overweight brings with it the presence of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and high blood pressure. These diseases are for life and limit the patient in many ways, so it is better to prevent them.
Participate in “Buying Tasty and Healthy”, in these healthy eating classes you will be able to learn more recommendations about a healthy life. Remember, it’s not about limiting yourself, it’s time to learn. All classes are in Spanish and best of all, they are FREE. Call El Centro Inc. at 913-967-0100 and ask for a Community Health Promoter.
