Waivers, pardons, forgiveness

I just returned from Immigration Court, and came back happy after winning a Waiver for a client. This woman had lived in the U.S. for 27 years, had no criminal issues, but found herself in removal proceedings.

The turmoil that this process put her family through was mind-boggling, but she had a great support system and the power to defend herself. Not every client is that lucky.

I believe that our immigration system is better when there is forgiveness possible. Amnesty is NOT a dirty word — it is forgiveness. Something that we all need once in a while. In this case, it was well deserved.

If you or a loved one might ever find yourselves in immigration difficulties, it is important to be prepared, save your money, and investigate all of the options to see if you qualify for one of the slivers of forgiveness that still exists in our system.

If you are interested in how to improve our immigration system, one of the most important pieces that is missing is the second chance, forgiveness, or, a waiver. Those who write the laws need to build more forgiveness back into this very harsh system.
