Our Lady of Guadalupe
“Am I not here, who I’m your mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection? Am I not the fountain of your joy? Are you not in the fold of my mantle, in the cradle of my arms? Is there anything else you need?”
Yesterday, Dec. 12, was commemorated the 487th anniversary of the apparitions of the Virgin, in the hill of Tepeyac, in Mexico. And like every year, millions of pilgrims gathered at the Basilica of Guadalupe to pay homage to who is considered the Mother of America.
The Virgin Mary represents not only the mother of God, but a divinity with whom many people identify as having a human nature. That is why the Virgin is always present in the prayers, because she is valued as the intercessor between God and men.

On the other hand, either by its own nature or by its “feminine” character, the Virgin always has a special consideration as someone to turn to when we are afflicted.
The case of the Virgin of Guadalupe has a special attraction, because in addition to its divine character, her image captured in the ‘ayate’ (tilma or blanket) of the Indian Juan Diego, has shown, after various investigations, that it has no natural scientific explanation. The tilma of Juan Diego is the only known divine image of the Blessed Virgin Mary that exists on our planet!
For non-believers, this is still something admirable; but for Catholics, the Virgin of Guadalupe is something even deeper, since she is the representation of the connection between men and God.
On yet another anniversary, Congratulations to our “Morenita”, our beloved Lady of Guadalupe!
