Advocates for Immigrant Rights & Reconciliation [AIRR]

I am fortunate to belong to a group called AIRR, an advocacy group that is working to better the lives of immigrants in our community and improve our immigration laws.

AIRR is working on building our base of supporters — people who donate, people who volunteer and those who just show up when needed. We need businesses to support our work, so if you own a business or work for one that is supportive of immigrants, please get in contact with us.

During the holidays, too often we get wrapped up in making grandiose gestures and giving extravagant gifts to our loved ones to show that we care. Even though the immense feeling of satisfaction is there in that moment, it’s quick to fade.

Why not give a gift with longevity such as volunteering your time, donating money, and spreading messages of unity in these times of crisis? These are the things that can have huge impacts that radiate into the lives of so many in the community. Gift giving can be so much more than a big box with a shiny red ribbon — give the gift of accompaniment to Court or a meal.

To find out how to get involved in the work of AIRR, please contact us through our Facebook page or info@airrkc.org. It takes a combination of these gifts and work from us all to build the community we want to live in.
