Inspiration
Sometimes, doing this kind of immigration work day after day, I need inspiration to get me going. It would be so easy to “call it in” and let the immigration injustice win.
Inspiration, for me, comes in the faces of my clients, in their stories, and their grateful hugs. It is for them, that I keep fighting back and resisting the invisible wall that this Administration is building and I hope that you will do the same for our neighbors, workers and friends.

As I am working on an appeal this week, and finding NO inspiration in the law of the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals, it reminds me that we cannot give up. We have to encourage our clients to keep on fighting in the Courts, because it is only when we challenge the status quo, and change the narrative that we will be able to make positive progress.
Changing the narrative means that, whenever we hear the negatives about immigrants, that we counter it with a positive. That instead of waiting for those negatives, that we put the positive stories out there. Instead of defending against the Wall, we talk about building a great big DOOR with a welcome sign that brings the workers and families into the U.S. legally. Instead of accepting denials by the Immigration Judges, we appeal everything until this law changes.
The inspirational, positive narrative that Immigrants benefit our communities, and that YES WE CAN change the current system needs to be communicated to our Congressional offices. They are the ones who can make the changes that we need. Please call, visit and write your representatives.
