Are you well informed?
We have all heard the saying that “we are what we eat,” in reference that the way we feed ourselves will have an impact on our health, wellbeing and long life. In the same way we should consider that “we are what we see,” in terms of the type of news that we usually follow.
Many people say that they simply “like to be well informed,” but the fact is that most of the news we read, listen to on the radio or watch on television, telephone, etc., are about tragedies, accidents or bad things that happen all over the world. It is false to think that by seeing a large number of news, we will understand the world better.
We can simply “take a look” and without much effort, in a short time we will be seeing something negative. And it is even worse when we intentionally look for this type of news, because whether it is political, economic, social or environmental, we can always find a huge selection of topics that will surely help us to consolidate our fears and prejudices. Bad news make us fearful and aggressive.

What would happen if before a trip we get “informed,” only about accidents and possible failures and risks of flying? Surely our flight would be hell. In the same way our mind becomes contaminated, the constant seeing of negative news can cause us depression and anxiety.
The images of destruction, injustice or excessive violence that accompany the news, cause a strong impact on our brain. In addition, by being aware of the bad news, we end up overestimating the risks of “something bad” happening, and underestimating the real possibility of dying from chronic stress.
It is proven that for a person who leads a quiet life, his/her health can be affected, only by constantly exposing himself/herself to negative news. Remember that nothing and nobody forces you to be in contact with the negative, it is your choice.
You have to take care of what you feed your mind. And just as we prefer to eat sweets, why feed your mind with the bitter?
