Mental health

We are in the middle of summer. The days, despite being hot, are pleasant. The economy is stable, baseball and soccer are in season, football is just around the corner, and the soccer world championship is in its final phase. It seems that everything is set to be happy.

But not everything is joy; we always have something that affects us and doesn’t allow us to be completely happy.

Despite all the comforts and facilities that modern life offers us, it can also cause mental disorders.

According to data from the World Health Organization:

_ Depressive disorders affect more than 300 million people in the world. 4.4% of the world population.

_ Anxiety disorders affect 3.6% of the world population.

_ Bipolar disorder affects 60 million people.

_ Schizophrenia and other psychoses some 21 million people.

_Dementia 47.5 million people.

_ According to the Centers for Disease Control in the United States, autism affects 1 in 68 children.

The most worrisome of these figures is that practically all of us are prone to fall into any of them.

We must take care of our lifestyle and that of our family, and sound the alarm when we see that some of the people around us show signs of any of these diseases or simply get too serious, quiet or weird.

If we are the ones who feel bad, or that things are not as they should, we should not hesitate to ask for help. There are many medical alternatives and therapies that can help us not to fall or, if necessary, to get out faster from the problem.
