What can you do???
This is the most common question that I have been getting from well-intentioned church members. What can I do to help these children and stop family detention?
Here is my short list of suggestions:

1. Protest – there have been and will continue to be protests about this family detention crisis. Show up. The government is paying attention. The more media coverage of crowds protesting....the better.
2. Donate – I think that the non-profit lawyers who are representing these families and suing the government in Federal Court need all the support we can give them. A team of non-profits is CARA. CARA consists of the Catholic Charities Legal Clinic, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Raices, and the ACLU. These groups are doing great work and need our help.
3. Call your Congressional offices – tell them that you do NOT support the Trump Administration’s current policy of detaining asylum seeking families. Ask your Congressman to vote for a Clean Dream Act, to STOP the Zero Tolerance policy, and to support positive immigration reform.
4. Pray – for those who are detained, those who are deported, and for those who are working with the families.
