Drinking and driving is very serious
For many people, drinking alcohol daily or almost daily is normal. It is something almost cultural, because in many towns that is the only way of entertainment that they have had since they were young. The fact is that it isn’t the same to overdrink in your town and stumble on your way home versus driving a car.
In this country, anyone who works regularly and receives a normal salary, can easily buy a car, but many people don’t understand the responsibility they acquire. And if they combine their desire for drinking with the pleasure of driving, it becomes very dangerous.
Those who drink often say “I'm fine”, “yes, I can”, “I'm going slowly”, etc., but the fact is that they don’t need to be drunk to be considered ‘under the influence’. Many end up saying that the police stopped them because: “he/she is racist” or “he/she saw that I’m Hispanic”; but very few people who do not drink are arrested for driving erratically and if they do, there are usually no consequences.

Those who have never had a DUI should know that they can go to prison, pay fines starting at $500 and up to $10,000, and have their driving privilege suspended for some time or permanently.
In addition to the cost of the fine, they have to pay for a lawyer and most likely the cost of the insurance policy will be increased. And if an accident is caused, the costs and consequences are significantly high, as well as causing discomfort and headaches.
Thousands of innocent people die every year as a result of accidents related to drunk drivers, and many thousands more, although they don’t die, are affected. We all agree that people who insist on drinking and driving must pay dearly for their imprudence.
In the case of Hispanics it is even worse, because they automatically become undesirable people and give argument to some politicians to consider us harmful. In addition, when they are arrested they are sent to the Court, and if they are undocumented, they will most likely end up in the immigration sight becoming a target for a probable deportation, banned to enter the country again and with the denial of naturalization.
Remember that the good and bad things you do affect us all.
If you drink, don’t drive!!!
