Digital revolution
The end of the year parties ended and the ‘Rosca de Reyes’ celebration was the last great family reunion.
And you, on which side of the plate did you put the cell phone?
There are families with the very good habit of forbidding to use the telephone while they are at the table, but unfortunately these are the minority.
During the past holidays, with so many relatives gathered, it would be impossible to try to avoid being used. Whether it was to take and send a photo, or send or receive a congratulatory message, everyone took out the cell phone.
So far the thing is not so serious, but what is undeniable is that little by little technology is changing the way we behave, we are becoming more addicted and dependent on cell phones, tablets and computers.
A study carried out in the United Kingdom concluded that people who frequently use cell phones and the Internet are more likely to forget things, make mistakes and be more detached to their environment.
Every day we use the phone or tablet since early morning as alarm clocks, calendar, to check time or traffic, to inform us of what is happening in the world, entertainment and with the family. They have become essential and for which we undoubtedly return home if we forget them.
Many studies are still being done and it might be too early to draw conclusions in favor or against the use of these devices, but what is a fact is that we are no longer the same.
Surely there will be someone who says “technology accompanies me, entertains me, fills me ... makes me happy”, and that would be a sad reality because where do they go then, outdoor walks, hobbies such as painting, sewing, dance, etc.?
Just as the Renaissance or the Industrial Revolution occurred, we are now experiencing the Digital Revolution ... let’s see where it takes us!!
