A Better Year
"There are only two days in the year when nothing can be done. One is called yesterday and the other one tomorrow…". Dalai Lama
We are in the first week of the New Year, four days have passed since it started and the terrible cold has us wrapped up, coughing and wanting to stay in a warm place. And what about the new year’s resolutions?
Certainly the weather doesn’t let us start as we would like. The most common resolutions, such as going for a walk, getting fit, exercising more, etc., get complicated. On the other hand, losing weight and eating healthier is also more difficult due to family reunions and leftovers. In regards to other resolutions, such as saving or going on vacation, with so many expenses, forget it.
It seems that January is the worst moment to initiate a change, but that is not the case. Like many things in life, if you start at the most difficult time, we will already be in charge when things get better and it will be much easier to continue and, maybe, increase our goals or expectations (why not?).
We are starting, we are just in time to take the first step, to change bad habits and to decide to live better.
It doesn’t matter if we start with small steps, the important thing is to act. Even if we fail, we must remember that progress is still made by taking two steps forward and one step back.
We are still missing the ‘Rosca de Reyes’, the credit card statement to arrive and a couple of months of cold weather, but in this respect we can still do something: eat only a small piece of bread, pay as much as we can and exercise even on the staircase at home. The important thing is to start with encouragement and remember that the best moment of your life is today.
Have the best year of your life!
