DREAM Act advocacy needed
On Sept. 5, 2017, the Trump Administration ended the DACA program, putting nearly 800,000 individuals who came to the U.S. as children, commonly known as Dreamers, at risk of deportation.
Members of Congress need to hear from their constituents — people living in the communities they represent — about the importance providing a path to citizenship to Dreamers and the impact that not passing Dream Act will have on their local community and economy. We need to pressure them to Support and Pass the Dream Act of 2017.
Members of both political parties have introduced the Dream Act in the House (H.R. 3440) and Senate (S. 1615), which would provide Dreamers, the chance to apply for lawful permanent residence and eventually citizenship.
Senator Claire McCaskill, (202-224-6154), Representative Roger Marshall (202-225-2715) and Representative Lynn Jenkins (202-225-6601) need to hear from you!. Tell them that you support the Dream Act and call on Congress to act immediately to pass permanent legislation protecting Dreamers.
For more information on the Dream Act, visit: www.aila.org/dreamers. Locally, you can also contact the Kansas Missouri Dream Alliance (KSMODA) on Face Book to find opportunities for advocacy. Now is the time to make a difference and it is not hard to do.
Thank you for taking action!
