Happy New Year!!!

These days, we hear this phrase constantly, but… what do we need to be happy?

The list is endless and depends on the circumstances of each person. Many may think that happiness is in winning the lottery or making a lot of money, while for others their own health or of their family is their greatest desire.

It’s said that:

"Happiness is the emotional state of a happy person. It is the sense of well-being and fulfillment that we experience when we reach our goals, desires and purposes. It is a lasting moment of satisfaction, where there are no pressing needs, no suffering that torments.”

Thus, there are things that can produce a temporary joy, but true happiness supposes a more lasting sensation. It may sound a little ambitious but, what can give us a joy or satisfaction that lasts all year?

Perhaps the best way would be to gather small satisfactions day by day and think of the ones that are to come.

There are those for whom just thinking about an upcoming event makes them happy, such as a party, a trip, finishing a project or just watching a TV show or sporting event, that's enough to be happy.

And the great advantage of this is that, although in the end what was expected doesn’t happen or didn’t have the opportunity to see that event, the emotion and joy that was felt, no one can take it away.

There are also those who think that true happiness is simply to live in peace. This means being calm and keeping ourselves unconcerned, which is perhaps the best way to deal with the constant problems and challenges of everyday life.

In this new year let us not be so ambitious and instead try to find taste in small things and think of the future with optimism.

Since we don’t know the future, we can think that something good will happen or expect something bad, the difference is that one gives us joy and the other concern.
