Post-election information
January 20, 2017.... the date that the new President is sworn into office. Many are still in shock — others are still celebrating.
Regardless of which side you stand on, the reality is that current policies and programs with Immigration remain in place until then, and no one knows what changes are coming.
Some tips: if you can renew your DACA, do so immediately; if you have Advanced Parole permission to travel, do so immediately and return before January 20, 2017; if you have been placed in Removal Proceedings in the past, but your case has been Administratively Closed... check with your lawyer; if you have an upcoming hearing date with Immigration... double check the dates and contact your lawyer.
My best advice to all: do not give up hope and do not quit fighting for a better life in the U.S. That goes for immigrants and U.S. citizens — the fight for justice is endless and we need everyone on board, speaking out against racism, classism, sexism, and all the other "isms" that emerge.
