Joanne Vaughn (1928 – 2016)

JOANNE VAUGHN, 88, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Nov. 23, 2016. A celebration of her life was held on Nov. 30 at Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church, in Overland Park, Kan. followed by burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Joanne was born November 14, 1928, in Chattanooga, Tennessee to David and Gertrude Miller. She attended Vanderbilt University and the Medical College of Virginia, obtaining a degree in Physical Therapy. She worked at Shawnee Mission Hospital and Research Medical Center. She was a member of Rolling Hills' church circle and choir.
Joanne was a dedicated mother and wife. She was married to her husband, James, for 62 years! From their bond they truly found complete contentment. She was well known for her wonderful dinners, her sense of humor, and as a loyal friend, and, she always encouraged people to be loving and emotionally sensitive to one another.
Joanne is survived by her three sons: David J. Huet-Vaughn and wife, Yolanda; Gregory R. Vaughn and wife, Cidni; Paul S. Vaughn and wife, Sylvia, and daughter, Stephanie A. Bunkowski and husband, Albert. She leaves behind grandchildren Emiliano Huet-Vaughn, Consuelo Huet-Vaughn, Daniel Huet-Vaughn, and Ryan Bunkowski, and one great grandchild, Nicolas Huet-Vaughn. She is also survived by her sisters, Betty Reep and Nelda Jarvis and many nieces and nephews.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Vaughn and her sisters, Nancy, Juanita, and, Martha.
A special thanks to Brighton Gardens and Garden Terrace for their loving care of her. Joanne will be sadly missed by her family and friends, and, forever cherished.
