HEDC celebrates the work and looks into the future

On Nov. 15, The Hispanic Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) held its 23rd annual event at the KCP&L Energy Center in Kansas City, Mo.

During the event, Executive Director, Pedro Zamora, showcased the future of HEDC, presenting to the night’s attendees the HEDC’s new office spaces ‘Center for Urban Enterprise’, which will be located at 2720 Jarboe Street, and Impacto Loan, Inc. office at 3241 Independence Avenue.


HEDC also recognized small businesses and individuals whose efforts have led to sustainability within their respective businesses, their own lives and households, and most importantly for the greater KC Latino community. The recipients of this year included:


Joe Arce, KC Hispanic News, with the Business Legacy Award; Victor and Letty Pardo, Pardo’s Gran Buffet Mexicano, with the Business of the Year; Toni Marquez Diaz, HEDC volunteer and host of “El Momento Empresarial”, with the Community Impact Award.


During the event, Michael Carmona, HEDC Director of Community & Business Development, presented the Oscar Jimenez Scholarship to Martin Jimenez, MJ Design & Parts, father of the late Oscar Jimenez. This scholarship will be administered through the Hispanic Development Fund. Donations to this scholarship can be made online at https://gkccf.kimbia.com/hisp01.
