How many times have we waited anxiously for the answer to this question, only to realize that he/she who should have won or who we think should have won, didn’t win? And in many competitions either school or talent-based, the winners are not always the best but the most popular, or the ones who contribute most to the interests of the organizers.
We see it when certain artists, broadcasters, journalists are rewarded as the most influential, the most handsome, or with better potential. And it’s even more frustrating when they name the man or the woman of the year.
Who are the judges? On what basis do they determine that someone deserves a prize more than another? The truth is that usually those who earn it, frankly don’t deserve it. Surely, for each of us, the ones who truly deserve the prize are our son, our partner or our mother.
But if no one else gives it to them, why not give it to them ourselves? Give a diploma or a small trophy to your children for their participation in an event, it would be of great value to them, no matter if it’s "handmade." Giving it and explaining the reasons why they are given, strongly influences them ... "look, they gave him the award for best player; but you ran over, you worked a lot and you outdid yourself, and since I can also be a judge ... ‘Here’s ¡¡¡your prize!!!’”
It’s the same for adults. What if you give your wife the award for being the wife of the year? Who better than you as a judge to determine that she has the qualities to deserve it? How about giving the award for 'World's Best Mom' to yours? What if your son, your partner or a family member gives it to you? Probably we would give it much more importance than if it was given by someone else, we would keep it as one of our greatest treasures.
We’re not trying to promote the purchase of diplomas and trophies, but rather to recognize our loved ones with something tangible that they can keep forever, surely we spend more time and money on things that are not as worthy as this ... give recognition to those who deserve it!
